Donating
Money to All Saints'
Your
donations power the plans approved by the parish. Below, you can click
on any of the donation methods for more details.
- Online by credit card - CanadaHelps
- an
intermediary
that offers convenience, security and (if you wish)
anonymity. CanadaHelps
and your credit card company take a fee that totals 3%, but
CanadaHelps sends you a tax receipt for the full amount of your
donation.
- Preauthorized
monthly bank transfers - "PAR" - each
month,
at mid-month, an amount (preauthorized by you) is
transferred from your bank account to the parish's bank account. A
simple method to start, change or stop. It implements the Old
Testament's "first fruits" ideal.
- Offertory Plate -
at most services, the traditional plates are passed around
during the offertory hymn. Many bypass this method, but it is very
important to others. For any donation over $10, you can fill out a
'guest' envelope to obtain a tax receipt.
- Church
Envelopes - if
you wish to donate regularly on the offertory plate, by cash or
cheque, you may find it convenient to obtain and use a box of church
envelopes posessing your own 'envelope number'.
- Payroll Deduction
- United Way - by
simply giving them the parish's charitable organization number, name
and address; some or all of your United Way donations can be directed
to All Saints'. This can be very convenient if your employer offers
United Way payroll deduction; and can also add anonymity.
- Donating
Stocks -capital
gains tax exemptions can make your donation, from a security's capital
gain, go much further as a direct donation of the security rather than
as its after-tax value in cash.
- Planned
Giving -planning
bequests can offer you advantages now. For example, the gift
of an
an insurance policy can be set up to give you tax deductions for the
premiums you
pay.
- Annuity/Insurance: Commissions
to All Saints' - as
part of your planned giving, it
may be possible to buy insurance
so that the parish not only benefits eventualy from your generosity,
but also
benefits almost immediately from the seller's generosity from donating
a portion of the commissions.
Anonymity
and Confidentiality of Donations
The parish is required to keep records of all
donations,
and of donors who are given tax receipts. Unless a donor specifies
otherwise, information about a donor is kept in the strictest
confidence possible. Only those few who must handle the
donations
and receipts are privy to the information, and only that
which
they need to know.
Two of the above methods of
donating allow complete anonymity within All Saints': CanadaHelps and
the United Way. The parish has agreed to keep
information
received from CanadaHelps in confidence - so each donation for memorial
flowers sent through CanadaHelps will need to include
your permission and instructions to publish the memorial; or
you can have the instructions sent
separately to the parish office by phone, e-mail or in person.
Donating Directed Money for All Saints'
Money can donated to be used in a
specified way by
the parish. If the parish cannot use the money as directed, your
donation will be returned.
Donating Your
Talents via All
Saints'
Your time, talent and enthusuiam can be the most
precious
of gifts. At All Saints' you can develop your talents (or those of
others) through the long tradition of mentoring. With these donations
there are no tax receipts, but the satisfaction you may find to be
beyond price!
Donating Food for
All Saints' Food Bank
All Saints' operates a mini food bank on its
premises, to
meet some of the need for food around Sandy Hill. Donations
of non-perishable foods are
collected in a basket at the back of the church at each church service,
and at other parish events.
