All
Saints' Support: Annointing and Blessing
A personalized All
Saints' blessing can be a powerful form of support when you are facing
a time of challenge in your life. The priest's blessing of the whole
congregation is a regular part of the Sunday morning service, but at
times a personal blessing is an important element of the support
offered by the parish.
Blessing at Communion If you wish, you can receive a personal blessing from the priest during communion
instead of (or as well as) the bread. At the altar rail, bow your head
without extending your hands. The priest will place a hand on your head
and bless you with a general blessing. If you also wish to receive the
bread, as the blessing ends extend your hands in front of you.
Blessing by the Priest after the Service Immediately
after the service, the priest give you a personal blessing that can
address a particular challenge in your life. The blessing is usually
done at the altar rail.
In this context, annointing is also available. Please try
to make your request known to the priest before the eucharist.
Blessing by the Priest and Congregation after the Service Immediately
after the service, the priest and a group of All Saints' parishoners
give you a personal blessing that can address a particular challenge in
your life. The blessing usually takes place at the altar rail with the
priest and a group of parishoners laying hands on you during the
blessing. If you would like any of the specifics of your challenge to
be known to the parishoners blessing you, you will need to discuss this
with the priest and explicitly give permission.
In this context as well, annointing is available. Please
try to make your request known to the priest before the eucharist.
Blessing by the Priest in a Pastoral Care Visit Blessings
are also available by request outside of our regual worship together.
in the course of any pastoral care visit to your home or hospital room.
You can request a visit and a blessing by calling the church office
(613)234-1686 - extension 1 for the priest's line. In this context as well, annointing is available.
In most circumstances our rector, The Rev. Rhondda MacKay, will be priest in providing these ministries. |
