All
Saints' Support: Baptism
Baptism
is the traditional beginning of a christian's life as a member of the
universal church. In this beginning, promises are made - with the
baptism usually taking place as part of a parish service. All Saints'
can provide support for your plan to keep these promises.
Infant
Baptism
The
traditional Anglican christening of babies is still a joyous part of
our life at All Saints'. Parishoners' babies are not the only ones who
can be baptised, nor are Anglicans' babies. The baby will need a
baptised parent, baptised godparents and a good plan for helping the
baby to grow into the light of the promises made in baptism. The church
affiliation of the parent(s) and godparents are not at issue, but the
plan for the baby's religious education should address why baptism at
All Saints' is good for the baby. All Saints' can provide the support
of experienced parents who are active in the parish.
Adult Baptism
Adults make
their baptismal promises in their own right. For them, baptism normally
is done after a period of preparation, with sponsors and with the
support of the parish.
